Building
a Great Ukraine
To cultivate and tend that great oak for Ukraine, we unite all
those who care for the future of our people and nation. Together
we proclaim the republican ideal of reconciliation to unite the
Ukrainian people around the building of a Great Ukraine.
Our aim is a Great republican Ukraine, where society’s goal is
to create conditions for developing a strong, free individual,
who achieves his own success, increases the wellbeing of his
family and helps those around him. This is a Ukraine where the
individual, his life, his safety, his interests and his property
are the greatest treasures for society and the state.
Our aim is a Great humanitarian Ukraine, where the Ukrainian
family is respected, where every Ukrainian baby is protected and
cared for from its birth; where there is no homelessness or fear
of unemployment; where the elderly are well cared for and where
Ukrainian women have not only the right but also the real
opportunity for self-actualization equal to those for men. This
Ukraine, grounded in ancient customs and the spirit of fairness
that is intrinsic to the Ukrainian Community, guarantees an
effective medical care system and fosters the rise of Ukrainian
culture and spirituality.
Our aim is a Great democratic Ukraine, with all the institutions
and procedures of a real democracy:
• Where an individual is allowed everything not forbidden by
law, while the state and its officials, including the president,
are forbidden everything not sanctioned by law;
• Where the constitution incorporates not only contemporary
expertise in building a democratic state, but also the unique
characteristics of Ukrainian social mentality;
• Where a strict and functional separation of powers among the
branches of government is guaranteed and vertical lines of
authority operate not by hierarchy of rank and position, but
according to the constitution and law;
• Where the people elect not only a parliament, local
representatives and a president, but also regional
administrators, judges and heads of municipal police;
• Where courts defend the interests, rights and freedoms of
individual from the state and are the only arbiters of the
constitution and laws;
• Where every citizen, every party and every journalist has
access to information about the state’s activities, its
institutions and officials, and has the freedom to speak
publicly about them;
• Where trade unions are protected by law from the interference
of national and local authorities;
• Where epochal decisions are made by the whole society through
national referenda;
• Where the prevailing principle is that it is the citizens that
are endowed with rights, freedoms and powers, and that it is the
duty and responsibility of the state to secure and protect these
for its citizens.
Our aim is a Great united Ukraine, which carefully protects an
ethos of tolerant consent, embracing a tradition of peace among
religious confessions, maximum self-governance for regions and
local authorities, and a guarantee of common living standards
for every village, town, city and region. In this indivisible
Ukraine, the slightest notion of a nation divided into East and
West will be erased from people’s memories, and every citizen
will be proud to be Ukrainian and a citizen of the world,
speaking Ukrainian and Russian fluently, as well as English.
Our aim is a Great green Ukraine, where the main condition for
any industrial activity will be the consistent and strict
protection of the environment. In this Ukraine, not only will
the consequences of the biggest man-made nuclear catastrophe in
history, Chernobyl, be resolved, but also the original purity
and invigorating strength of Ukraine’s soil, rivers and lakes
will be restored. The forests will be replanted and produce
fresh air for Europe’s lungs.
Our aim is a Great industrial Ukraine, developed through its own
potential and advantageous geopolitical position. With a
favorable investment climate, created in part by minimal taxes
and a modern infrastructure, this Ukraine will adopt the best
practices for industry, power engineering, transportation and
communications so that Ukraine stands among developed nations
and competes with them on equal terms.
Our aim is a Great agrarian Ukraine, which will keep the most
fertile soil in the world in its citizens’ hands, and provide
its farmers with the most sophisticated agricultural tools and
equipment. This Ukraine will join the club of the world’s
agricultural leaders.
Our aim is a Great scientific Ukraine, which will create
conditions to attract its own intellectual elites to the
Motherland while developing ways to encourage young people to
pursue science, restoring the glory of Ukraine’s education and
its scientific schools. These will prepare top-quality experts
who will make fundamental discoveries and develop revolutionary
technologies. The revival of our science will ensure that
Ukrainian innovations and inventions will enter the global
economy.
Our aim is a Great secure Ukraine, which with the free heart and
glorious example of Zaporizhska Sich will build professional and
efficient armed forces, and equip them with the most
sophisticated weaponry, to protect our people. Ukraine, together
with the international community, will withstand international
terrorism and prevent armed conflicts that threaten humanity.
Our aim is a Great Ukraine, which with its own economic, social
and political evolution will rise to gain the international
respect that will allow negotiations on equal terms with
strategic partners such as the European Union, Russia and the
United States. Negotiating from strength will allow Ukraine to
achieve equitable and desirable terms for inevitable integration
into Europe. This Great Ukraine will bring into Europe not
problems, but new potentials and strengths.
